그 여름의 풍경

바쁜 일과의 늪에 빠져 허우적대다
벗의 발걸음 따라 닿은 곳
꿈에 그리던 남해의 푸른 바다가
눈앞에 아득히 펼쳐집니다
지구는 섭씨 40도 펄펄 끓는 몸살을 앓고
방구석 책상 앞 굳어버린 허리 한 번 펴지 못한 채
어둠 속에 묻힌 미서훈 독립운동가의 이름을 찾아
나의 여름을 고스란히 바쳤습니다
빛바랜 역사 속 이름을 세상에 채워 넣느라
정작 내 여름의 달력은 하얗게 비어버렸는데
남해의 다정한 모퉁이에서 만난
'갤러리 화가의 정원'
그곳에 걸린 최지아 작가의 여름 풍경 앞에
가지 못했던 나의 계절이 멈추어 섭니다
푸른 파도 소리 들리는 해수욕장 파라솔 그림
그 낭만 어린 붓 터치 가만히 들여다보니
숨 가쁘던 땀방울이 시원한 바람이 됩니다
스스로 누리지 못한 뜨거웠던 그 계절은
최지아 작가의 캔버스 위에서 피어나
어느새 아련하고 소중한
'그 여름의 풍경'이 되어 남았습니다
문득 고개 드니 스쳐 가는 서늘한 바람
나의 뜨거웠던 여름을 위로하듯
성큼 가을이 곁으로 와 있습니다.
지금 남해 화가의정원(대표 최지아)에서는 <최지아 특별전 23회, 크로아티아 풀라 전시 기념> 전이 열리고 있다. (8월 3일 ~) 010-7122-3319
최지아 작가는, 연세대학교 대학원 음악교육 석사 출신으로 제39회 대한민국미술대전 구상부문 특선과 오사카 공모전 평론가상을 받고 인도 첸나이 비엔날레와 예술의전당 등에서 15회 이상의 개인전과 수많은 초대전을 개최한 중견 화가입니다. 고향인 남해 삼동면으로 귀향한 뒤에는 복합문화공간 '화가의 정원(최지아갤러리)'을 개관하여 자신의 작품 활동을 이어가는 동시에, 다양한 전시와 음악회, 교육 프로그램을 통해 지역 문화예술 활성화에 이바지하고 있습니다.

The Scenery of That Summer

Floundering in the swamp of a busy daily routine,
I reached a place following a friend’s footsteps.
The deep blue sea of Namhae I had dreamed of
Spreads out boundlessly before my eyes.
The Earth suffers from a raging fever of forty degrees Celsius,
And without even straightening my back, stiffened in front of my room's desk,
I dedicated my entire summer
To finding the names of unhonored independence activists buried in the dark.
While filling the world with names from faded history,
The calendar of my own summer was left completely blank.
Yet, at a warm and friendly corner of Namhae,
I encountered the 'Gallery Painter's Garden.'
Before the summer scenery by artist Choi Ji-ah hanging there,
My missed season comes to a sudden halt.
A painting of parasols at a beach where the blue waves can be heard—
As I quietly gaze at those romantic brushstrokes,
My breathtaking beads of sweat turn into a cool breeze.
The burning season that I could not enjoy myself
Blooms upon artist Choi Ji-ah's canvas,
Transforming before I knew it into the faint and precious
'Scenery of That Summer.'
Suddenly lifting my head, I feel a cool breeze passing by.
As if comforting the passionate summer I endured,
Autumn has stepped right by my side.
Artist Choi Ji-ah, who holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from Yonsei University Graduate School, is an established painter who won a Special Selection at the 39th Korea Grand Art Exhibition (Representational Category) and the Critic's Award at the Osaka Exhibition. She has held over 15 solo exhibitions and numerous invitational exhibitions, including at the Chennai Biennale in India and the Seoul Arts Center. After returning to her hometown of Samdong-myeon, Namhae, she opened the 'Gallery Painter's Garden' (Choi Ji-ah Gallery), a complex cultural space where she continues her artistic pursuits while contributing to the vitalization of the local arts scene through various exhibitions, concerts, and educational programs.
