옥수수 밭에서
초록빛 파도가 넘실대는 여름 밭자락에서
시간을 거슬러 그리운 유년으로 걸어 들어간다
그 시절 옥수수는 여름날의 유일한 먹거리
가마솥 가득 속살 보이던 너는
그리움으로 익어가던 우리들의 달콤한 잔치였다
이제는 사계절 내내 만날 수 있는 흔한 것이지만
오늘 발길 닿아 마주한 저 푸른 밭두렁엔
여전히 식지 않은 여름날의 그리움이 멈춰 서 있다
코끝을 스치는 아련한 흙내음과
바람에 서걱이는 길쭉한 초록 잎사귀들
빛바랜 사진처럼 선명해지는 그 시절 풍경에
문득 눈시울이 붉어진다.

In the Cornfield

On the edge of a summer field where green waves roll
I walk backward through time into my longed-for childhood
In those days corn was the only treat of summer
Revealing your tender kernels inside a full cauldron
You were our sweet feast that ripened with yearning
Though it is now a common food found all year round
Upon the green ridges where my steps happen to fall today
The still-uncooled longing of those summer days stands still
The faint scent of earth brushing the tip of my nose
The long green leaves rustling in the wind
At the scenery of those days becoming vivid like a faded photograph
Suddenly my eyes well up with tears.
トウモロコシ畑にて

緑の波がうねる夏の畑の片隅で
時間をさかのぼり 恋しい幼年時代へと歩み入る
あの頃 トウモロコシは夏の日のおやつ
大釜いっぱいに白い素肌をのぞかせていたお前は
恋しさの中で熟していく 私たちの甘い宴だった
今では四季を通じて出会える ありふれたものだけれど
今日 足の向くまま行き着いた あの青い畝には
いまだ冷めやらぬ夏の日の慕情が立ち止まっている
鼻先をかすめる ほのかな土の香りと
風にそよぐ 細長い緑의 葉
色あせた写真のように鮮やかになる あの頃の風景に
ふと 目頭が熱くなる。
